How to Catch Up When You’re Behind

Ugh.

Wow, so the past few days have not been good for my goals. First of all the dryer hose broke. Twice. Second, my baby, M2, decided that yesterday was a great night to stay up until 2:00 a.m. Lovely.

So, two nights ago, I did go to bed at 10:30 but think I was probably awake until around 11:00–I did some reading on my phone and chatted with the hubs. Last night, I was in bed at 10:30, but, as stated, M2 wanted a midnight party. Grr.

Sleep wise, I can’t do anything when my son decides to stay awake fussing. If I leave him in his bed to cry it out, he will keep the whole house awake, and he can sleep by himself, so I knew that it was something else. However, what I did *not* do, both nights, was set my phone to 9:45 p.m. to remind me to go upstairs. When this happens, I panic when it gets close to that time and keep checking the clock and then I fight it the rest of the night, so even though I have been in bed by 10:30, I have not been following my plan which was to go upstairs at 9:45, get ready for bed, and be in bed by 10:00. Right now, I am going to set my phone for 9:45 p.m. so that I don’t get all panicked and start fighting it. I am going to let technology do the work. If you are joining me on this plan, I encourage you to pick a time to set your phone alarm for to remind you to head upstairs to get ready for bed.

Go ahead. I’ll wait.

Still waiting. You thought I was joking, didn’t you?

Okay, get off of Facebook now. (See, I know you–I did this, too!).

Anyway, now my phone is set for tonight. Go me. And while you’re doing that, go ahead and set it on repeat for every day, so that you don’t have to do it again. Good job!

High five!

Now, as for laundry, I had two loads to take care of. One was from yesterday which was my son’s, M1’s, bedding because he had an accident. It was in the dryer thanks to my wonderful husband fixing the dryer. So I went upstairs and made his bed even though my M2 was sleeping (which usually freaks me out because I didn’t want to wake him up, but that’s an excuse–he’d been sleeping for a while. If he got up it would be okay). I also had to start today’s laundry, so I sorted all of the clothes, picked out some to put in the wash, and put the rest back in the hamper. Finally, I needed to mop the bathroom before I put the rugs back down, so I did that (that was the last thing I needed to do before writing this blog and drinking my yummy Keurig coffee). The bathroom floor is probably dry now, so I can go ahead and put them down when I go up. I did have to rewash the towels just because they were crunchy from not running them through the dryer with a dryer sheet. And I also need to finish today’s load: dry and fold. After I am done here, I will go downstairs and switch the laundry as well.

So, that’s it for the day.

Wish me luck on the going to bed on time thing. Prayers that M2 actually sleeps!
